Overview

Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine BSc student will learn how to expertly link knowledge of the molecular fundamentals of life to the human condition and use this knowledge in the development of modern medicines.

With this degree they will develop biomedical expertise alongside core biochemistry techniques. Biochemistry is the scientific basis for a majority of medical knowledge and advances in understanding, diagnosing and treating disease.

They will develop advanced skills in the lab with practical experience from year one and will be trained by scientists who are leaders in the fields of biochemistry and biology. We will help them graduate with the core skills needed to be successful in their future career, either as a laboratory scientist or in careers where their scientific training will be welcome such as data analyst, patent law or teaching. This is also a perfect degree prior to postgraduate medical training.

Through optional modules and research projects, they can tailor the course to focus on the specific areas of biochemistry and molecular medicine that interest them. Our core first year content gives them the option to refine their biochemistry degree path at the end of year one to Biochemistry BSc (C700) or Biochemistry and Genetics BSc (CC47).
