What you will study

The GIS and Remote Sensing MRes program at the institution develops the sought-after skills necessary for students to become future professionals, policymakers, and influencers who are relied upon to utilize spatial data for the betterment of society.

Students will work alongside a team of spatial science researchers to gain an understanding of research methodology, data collection, and analysis, thereby building the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills required for a career in research.

The program allows students to explore various forms of spatial and remote sensing data, including census and survey data, photogrammetry from unmanned aerial vehicles, and airborne and satellite-based multispectral/hyperspectral, lidar, and radar data.

The flexible approach of the program enables students to tailor their studies to align with their specific interests and the expertise of the researchers. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Center for Aquatic Environments and work across related disciplines such as physical and human geography, geology, ecology, environmental science, archaeology, agriculture, planning, and the built environment, with GIS and remote sensing at the forefront of their work.
