Overview

The MSc Computing and IT Management program is designed for graduates who wish to transition into the field of computing from another discipline. It offers a comprehensive technical knowledge base and a solid understanding of the business context necessary for effectively managing IT systems.

Throughout this course, students will acquire the necessary skills to develop business applications by gaining a fundamental understanding of software and web development, e-commerce, and database management. They will also develop an understanding of the professional skills required to lead IT managers, as they collaborate with a team on a business change project.

In addition, students will have the opportunity to explore new and emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, that are revolutionizing the landscape of IT systems. They may also choose to focus on human-centric computing, which emphasizes the creation of effective information systems from a human perspective. Furthermore, they can learn the knowledge and skills needed to create interactive visualizations and explanations of data.

Upon completion of the Spring semester, students may opt to apply for a paid 7-12 month professional work placement. This valuable opportunity allows them to gain practical experience and further develop their IT professional skills before completing the MSc course, which culminates in a 60-credit dissertation.
