Overview
Thompson Rivers University (TRU) offers a Health Care Assistant certificate program based on the Health Care Assistant Provincial Curriculum. The program can be started at the Kamloops campus in September, January, or May.
This eight-month program is designed to prepare individuals to work as supervised health care assistants. The skills acquired can be applied in community settings such as complex care homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences. The program focuses on training individuals to support older adults in meeting their basic physical, emotional, environmental, and social needs, while providing practical assistance to help clients maintain maximum physical and mental independence.
