Postgraduate Certificate in Education - PGCE Early Years (3-7)

London Metropolitan University - Holloway

What you will study

This PGCE Early Years course prepares students to teach three to seven-year-olds (Key Stage 1) and leads to Qualified Teacher Status.

Students will study at London Met and attend two placements at a partnership school of 11 and 13 weeks. It will extend their knowledge, develop their classroom practice and help students examine the underlying principles and values that inform current debates around educational issues.

At London Met, students will learn about teaching in urban, multicultural and multilingual schools and will address language, diversity and equality across the curriculum. Training within the framework and principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the unique London context, students will be well equipped to help maximize every child's development.

Their time at London Met's partnership school will be supported by school-based mentors and University-linked tutors. The tutors will also deliver University sessions, ensuring a continuity of support throughout the course.

An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
