Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Biomedical Science (Foundation Year) (B902)

London Metropolitan University - Holloway

What you will study

The Biomedical Science BSc (Hons) degree with a foundation year will prepare students for study at undergraduate level, while providing them with scientific knowledge of biomedical science and disease processes.

This four-year degree with a built-in foundation year (Year 0) is ideal if students can’t meet the Biomedical Science entry requirements or don’t hold the traditional qualifications needed to enter the three-year undergraduate degree. On graduation, students will receive the same title and qualifications as those who study the standard Biomedical Science course.

On the Biomedical Science (Foundation Year) BSc (Hons), students will help build students' knowledge and understanding of the molecules, structures, systems and processes that underpin normal cell, tissue and body functioning. Students will be able to critically evaluate and develop ideas on issues, methodologies and processes within the biomedical science field.

During the degree, students will be supported by experienced tutors and a number of other services at London Metropolitan University to help them settle in, progress academically and prepare for their future career. Students will learn in an environment that is designed to foster confidence and motivation that will help them to succeed in their studies and beyond.

The foundation year is designed to provide the fundamental knowledge base in key disciplines, such as biology and chemistry, which is required throughout the biomedical science degree course. Students will share this year with students from other foundation year courses, so they’ll get to learn alongside students with different academic interests and perspectives on the topics they study.

On completion of the foundation year, students will join students from the three-year biomedical science degree and study the same content.

If, at the end of the foundation year, students find themselves wanting to specialise in a different area of human sciences, there will be flexibility to do so.

An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
