Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Social Work (Foundation Year) (L505)
London Metropolitan University - Holloway
What you will study
The Social Work (Foundation Year) BSc (Hons) is an alternative route into social work studies if students don’t meet the necessary requirements to enter the standard undergraduate degree.
On successful completion of the foundation year, students will be able to progress onto the Social Work BSc (Hons) three-year course.
London Metropolitan University's social work bachelor's degree with a foundation year will provide students with knowledge, skills and experience to enter or progress their career within the health and social care sector.
The foundation year will equip students with valuable transferable skills that will help them succeed in any workplace – students will learn how to manage their workload, critically analyse information and improve their academic writing skills. Students will also complete a taster module in social work, so that they can prepare for more in-depth study of the subject in the subsequent three years of the course.
The foundation year will be shared with students from other specialisms studying a foundation year in the School of Social Professions. This will be the perfect opportunity to learn about other disciplines and exchange different perspectives on the topics students study.
The module in social work will help students develop the necessary knowledge and skills that will give them an introduction to studying social work at undergraduate level. This module will also prepare students for the application process for the Social Work BSc (Hons) course. Upon successful completion of assessed group and written tests, students will be put forward to the individual interview stage. If students pass this stage, they will join students on the Social Work BSc (Hons) course and study the same content and modules as them. If students are unsuccessful but pass all their modules, students can choose another course at the University, subject to meeting entry requirements.
An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
