Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Digital Film Production

This Filmmaking and Digital Film Production course enables students to develop essential skills in film production, guiding them through the entire creative process from script to screen. The programme supports the development of both technical expertise and artistic practice, allowing students to bring their creative ideas to life using industry-standard equipment and software.

Students gain hands-on experience with professional sound, camera, and lighting equipment, while learning key aspects of filmmaking such as narrative design, camera and lens selection, and digital production workflows. The course also introduces industry-standard post-production tools, including Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Logic Pro.

Throughout the programme, students are encouraged to build an extensive portfolio of work that reflects both their technical abilities and creative vision. Opportunities for practical experience include involvement in live projects and collaborations, such as contributing to professional productions and studio-based filming.

An optional professional placement year is available between the second and third years of study, offering valuable industry experience. Students are responsible for securing their placement, supported by the university’s careers services and employer networks. Those who successfully obtain a placement can transfer to the placement version of the course.

The course prepares graduates with the creative, technical, and professional skills needed for careers within the film and media industries.
