Integrated Foundation - Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Sport and Exercise Science

The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science course is designed to equip students with the skills needed to become practitioners within the sport and exercise industry. Graduates may go on to support athletes in reaching peak performance or work with the general public to help them achieve their health and fitness goals.

The foundation year pathway is specifically structured to support the transition into degree-level study. Delivered at Level 3, it acts as a preparatory stage, allowing students to build essential knowledge, skills, and understanding before progressing onto the full degree. Throughout this year, students develop key academic, interpersonal, and professional competencies that provide a strong platform for future success in higher education.

Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students are guaranteed progression onto the first year of the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree. Opportunities to transfer to other sport-related degree programmes may also be available, subject to space and meeting any additional entry requirements, which may include an interview.

The course explores the science behind sport and exercise, drawing on disciplines such as physiology, psychology, nutrition, and biomechanics. These areas are applied to contexts including sports performance, physical activity, health, and wellbeing. Students engage with both discipline-specific and multidisciplinary modules, gaining a broad and enriched perspective that enhances career prospects.
