Master of Arts - Heritage

Canterbury Christ Church University

What you will study

The MA Heritage program offers a unique opportunity for individuals hoping to build a career in the heritage sector from the heart of a World Heritage Site.

This innovative course will train students in new digital skills related to interpretation and heritage management, while also providing an awareness of the heritage sector that will allow them to develop as practitioners for a range of careers.

Core modules will consider how the legacy of studying heritage has direct links to inequalities in society today, addressing themes such as colonialism, empire, and hidden histories. The program will also explore heritage management practices as "world making and future assembling," with the capacity to "assemble radically different futures" (Heritage Futures, 2020).

Students will have the opportunity to select modules from a wide range of options, offering routes for specialization in areas such as archaeology, tourism, education, or historical studies, thereby developing and tailoring their skill set towards a specific career path.
