University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's Bachelor of Arts - Liberal Arts offers an intellectual challenge, encouraging students to pursue their interests across a variety of academic fields.
Learners will develop their creativity, critical thinking skills, and sense of independence while they explore two concentrations in any of the following subjects: • humanities: art history, English literature and criticism, English writing, foreign languages, history, philosophy, Portuguese literature, and Portuguese language and linguistics. • social sciences: anthropology, economics, political science, policy studies, sociology, and women's and gender studies. • interdisciplinary programs: sustainability and urban studies.
As a liberal arts major, students will design their own interdisciplinary path as they choose their concentrations and bring them together to create new ways of seeing, knowing, and expressing their academic and research interests.
Liberal arts major graduates find careers in business, communications, education, government, human resources, museums, non-profit organizations, public policy, and social work. They will be prepared for graduate study in the fields they will explore as they select their liberal arts concentrations.
