Integrated Foundation - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Education Studies

The BA (Hons) Education Studies with Foundation Year is designed to support students in transitioning to degree-level study while building a strong foundation in education. The Foundation Year provides a broad introduction to key concepts and develops essential academic, interpersonal, and professional skills, preparing students for successful progression onto the full degree.

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, students are guaranteed entry into the first year of the Education Studies degree, with the option to apply for related programmes in education and social work, subject to availability and entry requirements.

The course is centred around key themes including education as a force for social justice, equity, and inclusion; the impact of globalisation on education; the role of technology in shaping learning; and the development of employability skills. Students explore how education systems operate within different cultural and international contexts, while developing their own educational perspectives and values.

Throughout the programme, students engage with both theoretical and practical aspects of education, including the use of educational technologies and evolving teaching practices. A placement in the second year provides valuable real-world experience, enabling students to apply their learning in professional settings and develop key skills for future careers in education and related fields.
