Master of Science - Management and Marketing
Birmingham City University (BCU)
What you will study
The MSc Management and Marketing is designed to develop the core skills and attributes required for careers in management and marketing within an international business environment. The programme equips students to understand and respond to the challenges faced by global organisations, while building expertise in marketing practice.
Students gain experience working in internationally diverse teams, collaborating on projects that involve producing professional reports and presentations. These assessments are designed to reflect real-world management practices and support the development of teamwork and communication skills. Ongoing academic support is provided throughout the course to help students achieve their career goals.
The curriculum begins with an exploration of fundamental business principles in a global context, covering areas such as finance, operations, marketing, and people management. This foundation supports the development of leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
In the second stage, students begin to specialise in marketing, focusing on the role of marketing in driving business success. The course emphasises customer-centric strategies, brand development, and communication planning, alongside the growing importance of digital marketing in contemporary practice.
The final stage includes a major project tailored to individual career aspirations. Students can choose between a work-based project linked to their employer, a consultancy project addressing a real marketing challenge, or a traditional dissertation exploring marketing theory and practice. This flexibility allows students to focus on a chosen area of interest and enhance their employability. Previous projects have explored topics such as fashion branding, customer relationship management in finance, and customer loyalty in sports marketing.
