Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Games Art (GG45)

In the first year, students study alongside those enrolled in the Games Design BA, focusing on the core principles of games art and design, research skills, and the societal role of games. They develop abilities in concept design, game mechanics, level design, 2D asset creation, 3D modelling, and the use of game engines. By the end of the first year, students have the option to continue with the Games Art BA or switch their specialism to the Games Design BA.

During the second and third years, students refine their skills by creating advanced 2D and 3D characters and environments, while exploring areas such as visual effects, virtual reality, and user interface design. They also examine global audiences, cultural impacts, and inclusivity within gaming, alongside investigating the use of games in industries such as education and social impact.

Collaboration is a key component of the course, with opportunities to work on interdisciplinary projects, critiques, and game jams alongside students from Animation, Graphic Design, Illustration, and Computer Games Development. These collaborative experiences reflect industry practices, offering a professional-level learning environment where artists and designers work together.

Based at the Harrow Campus, students have access to specialised facilities including the new Games Hub and Emerging Media Space, as well as the Design, Film, and Digital Media studios.

The course fosters confidence and encourages independent thinking, preparing graduates for roles such as Concept Artist, 3D Environment Artist, Animator, or Technical Artist.
