Program Description This Tesside University degree covers the foundations of legal knowledge, plus a strong introduction to the core principles of crime, criminality and the criminal justice process.
Students study law, criminology and criminal justice modules (usually 67% law and 33% criminology/criminal justice) in each year of the programme allowing for development of expertise in both areas of study, culminating in a dissertation combining both disciplines.
Students will study the foundations of legal knowledge; these seven subjects are Contract Law, Public Law, Tort, Land Law, Criminal Law, Equity and Trusts, and European Union Law. These subjects are needed to allow students to progress to further training to qualify as a barrister. In addition to this, students will study carefully selected modules aimed at providing a thorough grounding in criminology and criminal justice.
