Master of Environmental Management (MEM)

University of New Brunswick - Fredericton

What you will study

The MEM degree is a course-based graduate program that emphasizes the integration of environmental science, policy, and management.

Students in the program explore contemporary environmental challenges through their coursework and a work-integrated, career-relevant internship. The degree is designed to be completed over a 16-month period and is self-funded by the students.

This degree is considered an intensive, course-based program—meaning that students continuously take courses or participate in the internship until they complete their degree. Unlike other course-based programs that allow students to take the summer off, the summer term in this program is typically when the internship occurs. It is important to note that this is an in-person program, although online electives are available to fulfill program requirements during the internship period.

Students are required to successfully complete a minimum of 30 credit hours of coursework, in addition to the MEM internship and report, totalling 36 credit hours. Of these, 24 credit hours must be earned from the MEM list of required courses, while the remaining credits can be selected from a list of constrained electives to enhance their studies.
