What you will study

The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Bishop’s University offers a wide variety of courses, programs, and degrees (B.Sc., B.A., M.Sc.) in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Pre-Medicine, and Physics and Astronomy. Students enrolled in experimental science courses gain extensive hands-on laboratory experience. Class and lab sizes are typically small—often fewer than 20 students—allowing for personalized instruction and meaningful feedback from professors.

The Faculty also supports student learning through free Help Centres in mathematics/statistics, physics, and computer science. These centres are staffed by upper-year students and professional tutors under the supervision of faculty members. In addition, the Bishop’s University Astronomical Observatory is available for both undergraduate and graduate research as well as for public viewing.

Graduates of the Faculty pursue careers across a wide range of disciplines, including medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, biomedical research, engineering, actuarial science, statistics, software engineering, pharmacology, physiotherapy, science education at the primary and secondary levels, and the chemical industry.

The Faculty also offers an entry-level program for a limited number of students, allowing them to register as Divisional Majors for up to two semesters before selecting a specific program of study. After completing two semesters of full-time coursework, students are required to declare a Major. Those not accepted into a regular program must consult with the Academic Advisor to develop an appropriate academic plan.
