Bachelor of Science - Behavioral Sciences - Sociology/Social Work

Prepare for a career in social work by studying social systems including the family, gangs, religious cults, medical systems and explore the impact of inequalities based upon the divisions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, and social class. Once students complete the Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science, with a concentration in Sociology/Social Work, they will be qualified to apply for a graduate degree in social work or sociology, which is generally required for private counseling practice or senior positions in the field. Students may also pursue entry level positions in areas and organizations including youth and family services, adoption agencies, mental health and substance abuse counseling, or hospice care. Alternatively, a background in sociology is an advantage in any ‘people-centered’ field—from marketing and public relations to college admissions to teaching or training to customer service.
