Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Construction Management

The Construction Management degree is designed to meet the needs of the construction industry, preparing students to manage projects from initial design through to completion and occupation. The course develops the skills required to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.

Students gain an understanding of the complexities of construction projects and the importance of working effectively with professionals from diverse cultural and disciplinary backgrounds. The programme emphasises both technical knowledge and management capability, supporting the development of well-rounded construction professionals.

A key focus of the course is sustainability and environmental responsibility. Students explore the impact of construction activities and learn about sustainable building methods and innovative management practices that respond to contemporary challenges within the industry.

The programme incorporates social innovation and encourages creative problem-solving, with opportunities to engage with industry partners and real-world scenarios. An optional professional placement year is available between the second and third years of study, providing valuable industry experience. Students are responsible for securing their placement, supported by the university’s careers services and employer networks. Those who successfully obtain a placement can transfer to the placement version of the course.
