Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Psychology - Sport and Exercise (C813)

Canterbury Christ Church University

What you will study

Guided by a dedicated team of internationally recognized researchers in the field, students will examine a number of themes related to both sport and exercise psychology.

Psychology seeks to understand human thoughts, emotions, and behavior through scientific study methods such as observations, interviews, experiments, and questionnaires. This degree offers students the opportunity to study a fascinating subject within the specific contexts of sport and exercise while providing many avenues for future development and employment.

Students will cover all the core areas of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, individual differences, social, and conceptual and historical issues, as well as research methods that will equip them with the skills to summarize contemporary evidence related to sport and exercise psychology.

During the course, students will engage in a "consultancy" and "research" informed experience, participating in activities linked to the consultancy unit, SportsLab, which provides scientific services for national and international athletes aiming to compete at the highest standards.

They will also have the option to spend an additional year on professional placement between their second and third years. Choosing to study with a placement year is an excellent way to broaden and develop experience while applying their learning to a specialist area aligned with their chosen subject. A placement will offer valuable contacts, personal development opportunities, and enhance employability.

The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), ensuring that the course is of the highest quality and providing students with the opportunity to gain the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, thereby beginning the process of becoming a Chartered Psychologist.
