Overview
The International Foundation Year in Health and Life Sciences provides international students with a structured pathway towards the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree. The programme develops foundational knowledge in health and life sciences while introducing students to concepts relevant to physical activity, sport, health and the human body. Students develop essential academic skills including research, academic writing, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and independent learning while preparing for the expectations of UK higher education. The programme also helps students become familiar with university teaching, learning and assessment methods and provides academic support throughout their studies. Following successful completion of the foundation stage and meeting the required progression criteria, students can continue to the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree. The undergraduate programme can provide opportunities to develop knowledge related to sports injuries, injury prevention, rehabilitation, exercise and therapeutic practice. Students can explore how appropriate assessment, treatment and rehabilitation approaches can support physically active individuals and contribute to recovery and performance. This pathway is suitable for international students who are interested in sport, health, rehabilitation and physical wellbeing and want to develop a strong academic foundation before progressing to undergraduate study. It can support future opportunities across sports therapy, fitness, rehabilitation, sports organisations and related health and wellbeing environments.
