Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Game Technology

The BSc (Hons) Game Technology degree is designed to develop expertise in the technical and creative aspects of modern game development. The course explores key areas such as game engine architecture, networked gaming, and emerging technologies, providing a strong foundation for careers in the games industry.

Students benefit from hands-on learning in specialist facilities equipped with industry-standard tools and technologies, including advanced graphics workstations, network simulation tools, and game testing environments. This practical experience enables them to develop the skills required for contemporary game development across both software and hardware platforms.

Throughout the programme, students work collaboratively with peers and academic staff to design and develop innovative games, while also exploring advanced topics such as cloud gaming and procedural content generation. An optional professional placement year is available between the second and third years of study, allowing students to gain valuable industry experience. Students are responsible for securing their placement, supported by the university’s careers services and employer networks. Those who successfully obtain a placement can transfer to the placement version of the course.
