Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Physical Education and Sport and Exercise Science
Canterbury Christ Church University
What you will study
Students will start the course by developing their practical and professional experience in physical education and physical development and its impact on learning. Students will develop and apply their subject knowledge and understanding to a range of practical activity areas.
As students progress through the course, they'll build their scientific knowledge, and analytical and research skills to prepare them for an individual study focusing on a specific area of interest to them.
Students will have the flexibility to choose from optional modules, meaning they can tailor the course to suit their need as they work towards their chosen career. This course is one of only a few in the country to offer the combination of Physical Education & Sport and Exercise Science as single honours.
The Physical Education & Sport and Exercise Science degree opens up both primary and secondary routes into teaching, through PGCE or School Direct, and prepares students for further postgraduate study at all levels through to PhD. Students may wish to continue their studies on the Physical Education and Physical Activity, MA by Research.
It also prepares students for roles in sport, physical activity, health and fitness and the leisure industry. In addition it provides an excellent foundation for careers in the public sector, including the medical professions (cardiac rehabilitation, physiotherapy and health promotion), while both the armed and police forces look favourably upon the graduates.
