If you hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help you gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of York. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score).
Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take additional modules designed to improve one or more of your English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.
Master of Arts - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Students can develop their knowledge of approaches to English language teaching to facilitate better teaching practice.
This course will provide students with the tools and resources they need to evaluate current issues and key trends in language learning and teaching in a range of contexts, and consider their application in classroom instruction, assessment, materials development and the English language curriculum. Students will also learn how to conduct their own research.
