Bachelor of Laws - Law
Canterbury Christ Church University
What you will study
Study Law at Canterbury Christ Church and join a challenging and vibrant community, led by an experienced team of academics and practitioners, including solicitors, barristers and international lawyers.
This Law degree will enable students to progress to the vocational stage of lawyer’s training, to qualify as either a solicitor or barrister. With a combination of theory and practice, this original and innovative degree in Law will effectively challenge students and give them the opportunity to develop vital and transferable skills needed for a future career in Law and beyond.
Canterbury Christ Church is one of only a few universities across the country which offers a dual qualification to those who choose to take this path: an LLB and Membership of the National Association of Licensed Paralegals. This means that students will graduate with a GradNALP in addition to their LLB, which will enable students to be an official paralegal.
The teaching staff are specialists in a wide range of areas. From human rights and artificial intelligence to corporate and medical, students will learn alongside experts, many of whom are still practising.
Students will also have the option to get involved with practical justice, including opportunities to shadow a local judge and experience live mediations from the in-house Mediation Clinic. This practice will certainly highlight their professional experience and understanding, which will enhance their overall skillset. Through the strong links with the local community, Citizens Advice and the local courts, students will have the opportunity to act as a Community Legal Companion for unrepresented parties at court. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on work experience in a legal setting, which will set them up for the world of work post-graduation.
