Overview
The Secondary PGCE programmes support students in exploring the pedagogy of their chosen subject specialism in depth. These courses aim to develop and integrate subject-specific pedagogy and theory with classroom practice, equipping student teachers with the skills necessary to become reflective and effective educators of their chosen subject across the 11-18 age range.
All Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) courses at Liverpool Hope provide students with the opportunity to combine theoretical learning with real-world experience. The initial professional development focuses on the fundamental principles underpinning effective and successful teaching, while school placements offer students the chance to apply theory in practice. The placements cover the 11-16 age range, with an introduction to Key Stage 5.
PGCE Business includes dedicated sessions concentrating on the pedagogy of teaching Business, as well as opportunities to collaborate with local employers to enhance business education. Placements for this course will cover the 14-18 age range, with a KE3 enhancement opportunity.
