Overview
The BA (Hons) Events Management degree is designed to prepare students for careers within the rapidly expanding global events and leisure industry. The programme develops the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to plan, manage, and deliver events across a range of contexts, from large-scale venues to individual projects.
Through immersive and hands-on learning, students engage with live briefs, real-world clients, and industry-focused projects. This approach enables them to gain practical experience in designing, organising, and managing events of varying scale and complexity.
The course provides opportunities to explore major event venues and operations, offering insight into how large-scale events are planned and delivered. Engagement with industry partners and guest speakers further enhances understanding of the sector, exposing students to current challenges, trends, and professional practices.
Employability is embedded throughout the programme, supporting students in developing the skills and experience required for careers in the events industry or for entrepreneurial pathways.
An optional professional placement year is available between the second and third years of study, providing valuable industry experience. Students are responsible for securing their placement, supported by the university’s careers services and employer networks. Those who successfully obtain a placement can transfer to the placement version of the course.
The degree equips graduates with the practical, organisational, and professional skills needed to succeed in the events and leisure sector.
