The Health and Physical Education program at the College of Education of Human Services offers a degree in health and physical education. It is known to be very rewarding to assist a variety of students in achieving lifelong health and physical activity. The undergraduate program in health and physical education is designed to prepare graduates for careers in related fields such as teaching, parks and recreation, YMCAs, non-profits, coaching, fitness and wellness, and more.
According to the College of Education of Human Services Mission Statement, the HPE program aims to achieve the following overarching goals:
Provide students with high-quality, innovative, and culturally relevant instruction from expert faculty.
Offer students hands-on learning opportunities, including community and school-based experiential learning experiences through professional relationships with stakeholders.
Develop, maintain, and enhance students’ abilities to use technology creatively, enabling them to produce quality content adaptable to future career settings.
Create a supportive community for students to foster a sense of belonging.
Enhance students’ critical thinking skills and professionalism through membership in professional organizations, participation in professional development, engagement in research, and networking opportunities.
