Overview
The course is aligned with the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (2018), the Faculty of Public Health core competencies (2014), and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (2016), ensuring that learners’ skills meet current global standards.
Participants may enhance their degree through a research internship or pursue a vocational internship to gain hands-on experience and improve employability. A vocational internship offers valuable work experience and strengthens a CV, while a research internship provides opportunities to develop analytical, teamwork, research, and academic skills by working alongside a research team in an academic environment. Although placement in a research setting is guaranteed, vocational internships must be self-sourced, with full support and guidance available throughout the process.
Learners are assessed through a range of methods designed to provide varied learning experiences and to challenge and extend their knowledge. These methods include written reports and essays, poster presentations, case studies, reflective essays, research proposals, and a dissertation. Written feedback is provided on all assignments to indicate progress and support continued development.
Learners participate in lectures, seminars, group activities, and computer-based workshops such as blogs and webinars. Skills development is further supported through computer-based simulations. Individual tutorial support is available to all students throughout the duration of the course.
This MPH course enhances the skills of individuals pursuing or progressing in careers in Public Health, particularly at managerial levels. With increasing attention on health outcomes and inequalities, the programme addresses health as both a medical and social issue.
