Overview
As an integral component of this course, students will be afforded the unique opportunity to spend their third year on placement at a prestigious field center, zoological or botanical institute, museum, industrial research laboratory, or another approved establishment of their choosing. This invaluable experience offers students firsthand exposure to professional research, a proven means of significantly enhancing their degree and augmenting their employment prospects.
While a plethora of placements are available within the United Kingdom, we have witnessed a burgeoning trend in recent years, with an increasing number of students opting for international placements. The allure of captivating locations such as Southeast Asia, South Africa, Germany, Italy, Australia, Madagascar, and the United States has captivated the imaginations of students seeking a global perspective to complement their studies.
Throughout the duration of their degree, they will enjoy the flexibility to select there degree title. It is not until their final year that they will be required to make a definitive decision regarding whether to continue with the BSc Biological Sciences program or transition to one of our other BSc bioscience degrees. Furthermore, students will have the option to specialize and graduate with a more specific degree title, such as BSc Biological Sciences (Genetics) or BSc Biological Sciences (Zoology).
The determination of their final degree title will be contingent upon the modules they choose, and their Personal Tutor will be available to provide guidance on the various options at their disposal. Moreover, there exists the possibility of transferring to our MBiol integrated master's degree, an exceptional foundation for a future career in scientific research.
