International Direct - Bachelor of Science - Management - Leadership and Organizational Change

The College of Management (CM) at UMass Boston offers a bachelor of science in management (BSM) degree with a full range of management courses and management concentrations that prepare students for specific management responsibilities. The program is built on a solid foundation in the arts and humanities achieved by completing CM's general education requirements.

Coursework and a whole array of student resources help undergraduate students develop the communication, presentation, and analytical skills required by contemporary managers. More specific, professional development is available through various student activities as well as the career services offered by the College of Management. Students in the BSM program are required to participate in the Management Achievement Program (MAP), a co-curricular program designed to prepare students for their role as management professionals. Leadership and Organizational Change Concentration The Leadership and Organizational Change (LOC) concentration allows students to explore and develop critical managerial skills in decision making, conflict management, communication, and venture-creation skills. The concentration provides students not only with technical skills but also with the ability to manage people and resources effectively. Students can focus their concentration in one of the following areas if they wish: • Human Resource Management • Managerial Effectiveness

Students who complete their bachelor’s degree with a concentration in leadership and organizational change are positioned well for entry-level managerial positions in the financial, biotechnology, high tech, nonprofit, computer and telecommunications industries, as well as in education, insurance, and health care. Recent graduates of the program work as account executives, human resource managers, consultants, recruiters, and retail managers, and several have started their own firms.
