Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Geography and Natural Hazard Management

This distinct, contemporary, course offers a balanced coverage of physical and human geography with a focus on the pressing environmental issues facing today's societies. The flexibility of the course allows specialism in a range of human and physical geography sub-disciplines, or to study a balanced mixture. It focuses on transferable, employment-related skills and knowledge, while fieldwork opportunities both in the UK and overseas provide you with a greater understanding of places. The course encourages you to use the latest technological innovations in classroom and fieldwork contexts and provides the opportunity for specialist degree training in aspects of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS). A wide variety of assessment types ensure you have the opportunity to play to your strengths while also developing new skills.

The Natural Hazard Management course will present students with opportunities to gain practical (field/laboratory/workplace) experience of hazard assessment in British and overseas settings, and to develop the ability to apply innovative mapping technologies (e.g. Geographical Information Systems, Global Positioning Systems and Remote Sensing) to evaluate/manage risks posed by natural hazards.
