Master of Science - Advanced Therapeutics and Public Health

The Advanced Therapeutics and Public Health MSc is a postgraduate programme within the fields of chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and healthcare. It is designed for graduates from disciplines such as healthcare, pharmacy, pharmacology, biology, biomedical science, chemical engineering, microbiology, biochemistry, and biotechnology. The course aims to deepen subject knowledge and prepare students for diverse careers in public health and advanced therapeutics.

Students on this programme benefit from extensive practical training at the Penrhyn Road campus, which features advanced simulation facilities. These include a mock hospital ward, a pharmacy dispensing suite, and a GP surgery environment. The simulation suites are equipped with modern technology such as patient simulator manikins that allow students to administer medication and monitor vital signs, supporting realistic clinical training.

The mock hospital ward includes six beds, drug cabinets, curtains, and a nurse’s station, providing a setting to develop bedside skills and receive feedback on best practices. Connected to the ward is a pharmacy dispensing suite where students practise prescribing appropriate medications and dosages. The GP suite consists of six consultation cubicles, some fitted with examination couches and others with chairs, enabling students to simulate patient interactions in a primary care setting.
