Bachelor of Health and Physical Education - Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership

Program Description With a fresh approach to health and physical education that is unique to Western Canada, Mount Royal's distinctive four-year program emphasizes a comprehensive approach to health and physical education while providing students with valuable hands-on experiential learning opportunities in- and outside the classroom. Going beyond traditional program offerings, the BHPE focuses on creating experienced and well-rounded graduates prepared to become strong health and wellness advocates in the community, or pursue further education at a graduate or professional school level. Students can open a world of opportunity for themselves in this unique program that explores the theoretical and practical applications of sustainable tourism, socio-cultural heritage, outdoor adventure programming and facilitation, entrepreneurship, leadership and communication. Graduates will gain valuable foundational skills in backpacking, canoeing, xc and backcountry skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, wilderness survival and rock climbing. Create a diverse toolbox of skills in key areas of program planning, risk management, leadership, environmental stewardship, critical thinking and problem solving that can be applied effectively across a wide spectrum of sectors.
