Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) - Business Studies - Accounting and Finance (4-year)

Accounting and Finance is a specialised research area within the Business Studies PhD programme, offering students the opportunity to engage in advanced theoretical and empirical research within a globally recognised academic environment. The section has an established and growing reputation for high-quality research across a wide range of topics, including management accounting, financial reporting, corporate finance, asset pricing, financial econometrics, international finance, and corporate governance. It also supports interdisciplinary approaches and research into areas such as public sector accounting and accounting practices in emerging economies.

The programme is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge of research methodologies and to develop the analytical and critical skills required for high-level academic and professional work. Students receive in-depth training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, enabling them to conduct rigorous and impactful research. Applicants who are unable to demonstrate prior comprehensive research training will be admitted to our 4-year PhD programme in Business and Management and will undertake up to a year of dedicated research training, followed by three years focused on the research phase of their PhD.
