Master of Arts (Honours) -Philosophy and Economics (VL51)

Philosophy has played a central role in Western intellectual life for over 2,500 years. It is regarded as essential for comprehending the world and our position within it, as well as our interactions with it.

The discipline of philosophy offers the necessary tools to systematically and critically analyze the underlying assumptions of various intellectual and practical pursuits.

While philosophers may adopt different approaches, the hallmark of philosophy lies in its emphasis on: • Constructing logical arguments

• Engaging in critical inquiry

• Applying rigorous reasoning

On the other hand, economics focuses on studying the incentives that shape and reconcile the decisions made by individuals, businesses, governments, and societies. It also examines macroeconomic outcomes, such as economic fluctuations, growth, unemployment, and crises, which can arise from these decisions.
