Undergraduate Foundation Pathway in Health and Life Sciences - Continue to Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Physiotherapy

The Health and Life Sciences course aims to provide the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills required to succeed in the degree pursued at Brunel University London. Students will examine a range of research approaches, techniques, and methodologies, and will manage their personal development, as well as their intellectual and practical skills.

Brunel Pathway College (BPC) will help build a set of transferable skills, supporting students through their undergraduate journey and preparing them for success.

Physiotherapy BSc (Hons) The human body is a complex machine, but what happens when movement becomes a challenge? This course trains the next generation of physiotherapists to use scientific knowledge and patient assessment in helping to improve the physical well-being of patients or to optimise the physical performance of sports professionals.

Brunel’s Physiotherapy course is designed to be hands-on and practical. The Mary Seacole Building at Brunel is purpose-built for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. The rooms reflect the clinical environments in which graduates will work, and practical skills are learned there as students practise on patients visiting the university and on fellow students. This prepares graduates to be confident and experienced in time for their first placement.

Brunel understands the value of making the most of 1,000 hours of clinical experience. By starting placements in year two, students can fully immerse themselves and practise the skills learned in year one. Placements will be practical learning experiences, not merely observational.

Students study modules covering a wide range of specialist areas within physiotherapy. They learn the skills necessary to analyse patient symptoms and develop treatment plans. They also learn to assess the effectiveness of their treatments. This is a skill vital to working as a physiotherapist.

Graduates are equipped with a strong scientific foundation and the practical skills required to be first-rate physiotherapists. This is reflected in the employment figures, with 100 per cent of physiotherapy graduates in work or study six months after graduation.
