Master of Science by Research - Law

The law staff team at the University of Gloucestershire (UoG) brings together diverse professional and research experience, united by a strong interest in international rights frameworks and legal transformation.

While each academic contributes a distinct subject specialism, the team shares a collective focus on the theory and application of human rights. Research areas include the interplay between human rights and sports governance, migration policies, and assisted reproduction. The team is committed to identifying, nurturing, and supporting research potential, and to promoting legal research as a positive force for change.

As a postgraduate researcher in law at UoG, the student will develop doctrinal research and critical analysis skills, alongside opportunities to examine how law operates within society through qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches.

Through their research, the student will be able to investigate and address contemporary legal issues. These practical and doctrinal engagements equip graduates to contribute valuable and innovative insights to academics, practitioners, policymakers, and wider audiences.

The programme demonstrates a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research. Postgraduate law researchers at UoG are encouraged to work across subject boundaries, exploring connections between law and fields such as criminology, sociology, business management, and marketing.
