Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Sports Management

The BA Sports Management is an excellent degree choice for students who are motivated by the idea of working in the sports industry, one of the most versatile and exciting sectors in the world. Sport is a fast growing and dynamic global industry that brings together commercial, social and political interests. There are fantastic opportunities for graduates who have a good understanding of the sports industry to apply their management, leadership and business skills. This programme was designed with input from the University of Roehampton's partners in the professional sports industry. These partners have given insight into what really matters in the business of sport, and the University of Roehampton has designed a programme that reflects the skills and knowledge required of graduates who go on to become successful in that business. Through their association with the Roehampton Business School, the University of Roehampton will be able to equip students with business, management and marketing skills. Students will then further develop and apply these skills in a number of varied and dynamic sport-related contexts. The University of Roehampton will give students insight into the complex world of sports marketing, sponsorship and media, and explain their relationship to, for instance, eSports and other emerging markets As such, the aim of the programme is to produce graduates who: • can demonstrate a theoretical, analytical and practical understanding of the principles that underpin the sports management sector • can demonstrate a range of skills in relevant sports-related contexts • are capable of working in interdisciplinary environments • are equipped to meet the challenges of the local, regional and national sports management industry • have developed an academic curiosity and a set of academic skills that encourages further study

This course offers all students the option of a one-year paid work placement, to boost their employability even further. If students choose this route, they will take the placement following year two of their course, and then return to complete their degree.

A placement year is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable work experience, to build on the career skills students will be taught on this degree. The connections students make on the placement will improve their career prospects further, and equip them with the skills they need to secure graduate-level employment.
