Double Degree - Bachelor of Arts - General Major Social Sciences & Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting (Optional Co-op)

With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management (B.A./B.Mgt.) degree, the student can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, if the student is interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. If sports marketing ignites their passion, they can major in kinesiology and marketing. The Combined B.A./B.Mgt. degree program takes five years (50 courses) to complete and leads to the conferral of two degrees. Accountants are central to the operations and strategies of all types of organizations as well as the foundation of short- and long-term success. Accountants provide business and financial advice by measuring, analyzing, forecasting and reporting organizational performance, resources and risk. They are required to have integrity and the ability to think critically, communicate, and interact with others effectively.

Accounting students gain technical skills and learn how to address a broad range of business problems. They will acquire and practice the skills needed for success, including writing and presenting, using professional tools and case analyses. Students study financial reporting, individual and corporate taxation, business analytics and information systems, auditing, management control systems and costing, as well as variety of other management disciplines.

A general major in the social sciences, unlike a single discipline major, allows students to customize their course selection to their interests and abilities. Where students compromise depth of focus in one area, they gain breadth of knowledge in a few key areas, thus increasing their flexibility. This multidisciplinary approach provides access to the "big picture" or the wider context of any subject area. Conversely, the courses students choose can enhance their focus, and provide a cross-discipline perspective on one particular theme.
