The Level 6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at Loughborough University.

This Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. The PMP will allow them to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies. They will study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route. Each semester consists of thirteen teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by semester with them on average studying around 18-21 (and up to 21) hours per week. Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow them to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in United Kingdom postgraduate programmes. Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments, oral examination and unseen written examinations.

Master of Science - Civil Engineering: The Master of Science - Civil Engineering programme develops advanced numerical, analytical, design and management skills that are applied to real-life engineering problems. These skills, combined with specific technical expertise and critical thinking, will enable students to pursue a career in civil engineering, progress towards becoming a professionally qualified engineer, or choose from a wide range of other career options, including further doctoral study. Upon graduation, they are likely to be part of a team working on a variety of infrastructure systems and buildings, from bridges and railways to skyscrapers and sports stadia. The unique multidisciplinary nature of this programme and School will allow them to secure roles in other disciplines that contribute to the construction cycle.
