4-Term Pathway - Foundation Certificate for Business, Law and Social Sciences - Continue to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - German and Ancient History (Honours Select 50:50)

If students split their University of Liverpool degree between German and another subject area, they will study a German language module, at beginners or advanced level, and a cultural module per semester, alongside two other modules in the other subject. If students combine German with a non-language subject, they will spend the Year Abroad in a German speaking country as an assistant in a school, as a student at a university or on a work placement.

In the Ancient History programme students can combine a study of the social, political, and cultural history of ancient Greece and Rome equally with another subject. Students will have the chance to study a wide range of periods and themes in social and cultural history. In Year One, students develop their knowledge of the main themes and events in Greek and Roman history, and the skills required to assess them. Year Two broadens their knowledge and improves the skills students have acquired. Students will study ancient texts and reflect on the nature of history. Year Three modules centre on key figures and themes reflecting the research interests of the Department. Students have the option of writing a dissertation on a research topic of their choice.
