Master of Arts (Honours) - Linguistics (Q100)

Linguistics is the field that delves into the mechanics of language, exploring the intricacies of how sounds, words, sentences, and conversations come together to convey and generate meaning.

It delves into various aspects, such as:

• The practical applications of language in everyday life

• The manner in which language varies across different societies and evolves over time

• The process through which children acquire and master language skills

At the University of Edinburgh, Linguistics boasts a rich history, with The University of Edinburgh esteemed teaching staff renowned for their research in this domain.

Given that Linguistics is a relatively new subject for most undergraduates, prior knowledge is not a prerequisite at the commencement of the program.
