Double Degree - Bachelor of Arts - Women and Gender Studies & Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting (Optional Co-op)

With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management (B.A./B.Mgt.) degree, the student can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, if the student is interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. If sports marketing ignites their passion, they can major in kinesiology and marketing.

Bachelor of Management - Accounting

Accountants are central to the operations and strategies of all types of organizations as well as the foundation of short- and long-term success. Accountants provide business and financial advice by measuring, analyzing, forecasting and reporting organizational performance, resources and risk. They are required to have integrity and the ability to think critically, communicate, and interact with others effectively.

Accounting students will gain technical skills and learn how to address a broad range of business problems. They will acquire and practice the skills needed for success, including writing and presenting, using professional tools and case analyses. They study financial reporting, individual and corporate taxation, business analytics and information systems, auditing, management control systems and costing, as well as variety of other management disciplines.

Bachelor of Arts - Women and Gender Studies

Whether as activists, scholars or labourers, women have generated significant changes in society. Women and Gender Studies offer students the opportunity to learn how these changes were initiated and gives them the tools to actively participate in the creation of an inclusive society.

Using feminist theory and research methodologies, Women and Gender studies examine the historical and contemporary conditions of women and men in society. The department draws on a vibrant community of scholars and activists both inside and outside the university to explore a wide range of issues.

Students in the program will increase their knowledge of women’s lives, bodies, experiences, labour and scholarship. Students will also explore feminism as an influential political and social global movement that has generated significant change in all aspects of daily life for men and women.

The department encourages all students to enroll in women and gender studies classes to discover enlightening perspectives applicable to their chosen field of study. By participating in these classes, students will develop an in-depth understanding of how current and historical events, ideas and institutions have been structured by gender, ethnicity, race, age, ability, class and sexuality.
