Bachelor of Business Administration - Business Administration is a broad business and management degree, where students gain comprehensive knowledge of the main functional areas of a company. Students study a wide range of subjects and develop their practical managerial skills to prepare them for a successful career in any aspect of business.

The four-year version of this course enables students to study abroad during their third year. In all other areas, this version of the course remains identical to the standard three-year variant. Students can study abroad with one of University of Essex' exchange partners in the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, the Middle East, Hong Kong and Japan. In doing so, students experience other cultures and languages, meet new people, and gain intercultural skills that are sought-after by employers.

Group work tasks develop students' team working skills and the program's business simulation project puts students in charge of their own virtual venture. In competition with other students, they develop skills in problem-solving, analysis and creativity as they make decisions to optimize their business’ performance. In the final year of Bachelor of Business Administration, students put their knowledge into practice by producing a business plan, industry report or dissertation in an area of their choice. As well as developing the research and analytical skills needed for the workplace, students can take the opportunity to make valuable business connections by gathering case studies and interviews.

This course also gives students the option to follow a specialized pathway in Applied Quantitative Methods (AQM). With employers looking for graduates with data analysis skills, The University of Essex is one of just three UK universities to have received Q-Step Affiliate status. By completing necessary AQM modules, students quantitative skills are evidenced on their transcript to give them the competitive edge in the job market. University of Essex can also provide work placement bursaries to develop students' skills in evaluating numerical evidence, analyzing data and designing research.
