3-Term (Extended) Undergraduate Foundation Programme - Engineering and Physical Sciences - Continue to - Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Fire Engineering

The Undergraduate Foundation Program in Engineering and Physical Science program is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to a wide range of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Lancashire.

The Foundation portion of this program lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.

There are four academic pathways to choose from and candidates will study the pathway most suited to their chosen progression degree. Academic skills relevant to the specific subject area will be taught to fully prepare them for university study. The pathways are: Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Life Sciences.

Fire and fire safety are key issues in building, infrastructure design and high-hazard industries. This programme was developed in consultation with employers and professional bodies and because of our established research base, the content is current and highly relevant.

The application of fire engineering in the real world is multidisciplinary and so is our course. The students will carry out project work, liaising between fire engineers and other members of the design and management teams.
