Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Finance and Management (N300)

Today’s ever evolving global finance sector requires professionals and managers equipped to deal with complex problems. Loughborough University's Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Finance and Management course combines rigorous finance theory with general management studies to prepare students for a successful career in financial services or general management. The program aims to help students develop vital technical skills that will give them a head start pursuing a career in finance. Students will also develop wider skills and intellectual independence that will enable them to thrive in a long, rewarding professional career.

In the first year, students will develop key quantitative, computing, communication and study skills. This gives them a firm foundation for modules in subsequent years to build on. In the second year of the program, students will start to develop an in-depth understanding of financial management and corporate finance concepts and theories. Students will study the economics of financial systems and take an introductory course on financial markets (including foreign exchange) and derivatives. In the final year students will develop these skills further and learn how to apply them in specialized core modules in portfolio management and financial trading, and in optional modules such as financial risk management, multinational financial management and behavioral finance.

Skills for employability is a key part of the Loughborough University's experience and can really boost students' job prospects and this degree has a module specifically built in to help them develop their study and employability skills. There are also specific modules in entrepreneurship to help those with aspirations to start or develop their own businesses.

The program shares the same first year modules as the Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Financial Management course. If students realize that they prefer the accounting route, they may transfer to the Accounting and Financial Management course at the end of their first academic year.
