In this University of Liverpool programme students can combine classical studies equally with another subject. The programme focuses on the societies and cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome. Students will study their literary and visual cultures (including their art and architecture) against the backdrop of the history of the period. The programme also gives students the skills in reading and analyzing the surviving (and sometimes conflicting) evidence that will allow them to reach and present their own judgements convincingly. Archaeology at 50% provides students with a solid understanding of archaeological methods and theory, combined with the study of the archaeology of specific geographical areas and chronological periods. This enables students to build highly transferable skills (team-working, critical thinking, synthesizing information and data, IT and oral skills) into any humanities degree.
