The Department of Criminal Justice and Social Work is committed to preparing professionals in the fields of Criminal Justice and Social Work. Students have the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree, or a minor in Criminal Justice. Additionally, interested students can pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensics through the Chemistry Department in the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology, with a minor in Criminal Justice required. Internship opportunities are available during the junior and senior years at various agencies, such as the public defender’s office, local police departments, Kentucky State Police, the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney, victims’ services agencies, and regional corrections agencies.

Murray State’s criminal justice program features experienced faculty who are dedicated to student success both inside and outside of the classroom. The coursework is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation that is applicable to a diverse range of careers.
