The Wildlife and Conservation Biology program at Murray State University aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective natural resource professionals. Images from lab trips taken by students in the WCB program showcase the hands-on learning opportunities available. The program strives for students to utilize their acquired knowledge and skills to contribute to the management and conservation of natural resources, particularly wildlife, for present and future generations. Earning a B.S. in Wildlife and Conservation Biology from Murray State University will prepare individuals for various careers, such as managing wildlife on federal, state, and private lands as a wildlife biologist, working with non-profit organizations or zoos to protect wildlife, conducting research on wildlife for conservation efforts, serving as a conservation officer to safeguard wildlife and natural resources, and educating the public on wildlife conservation. Students can choose from 5 tracks within the Wildlife and Conservation Biology major based on their career interests. Completion of any of these tracks will equip students to compete for positions with federal, state, private, or non-profit organizations, as well as gain admission to graduate programs. The first course at Murray State University, Introduction to Wildlife Conservation and Biology (BIO 149), will assist students in determining their career interests and selecting the appropriate track.
